The Paris Olympics Committee has decided to remove the bookstand before the 2024 Olympics Seine ceremony. Many of the famed ‘bouquinistes,’ who have long sold books on the banks of the river, are outraged at this decision. This is a significant issue for Airbnb, especially when the brand is about helping local communities and its young audience, who believe in local stores that give them a sense of belonging. That’s why we’ll work with Airbnb houses along the Seine River and turn them into customized ‘bouquinistes’ stores during the Olympics.
