Nails on Fingers: Good Luck

Nails on Fingers: Good Luck is a self-portrait rooted in my passion for nail art. Since middle school, I have practiced and experimented with nails as a creative surface—developing my artistic sensitivity through colors, patterns, and textures.

Seeing nail decoration as an art form in itself, I wanted to move beyond the flat canvas and use nail polish as a painterly medium. I created a sculpture of two crossed fingers—a symbol of luck—by hand-painting over 700 fake nails and assembling them into compositions using my favorite colors inspired by Kazimir Malevich’s Sportsmen and patterns drawn from Piet Mondrian’s abstract painting techniques.
