Brain Piercing
Piercing began as a personal way of coping with stress. Though I felt anxious before getting my ears pierced, I left the experience feeling confident and exhilarated. Over time, the precise memory of the event faded, but the emotions—fear, relief, excitement—remained vivid.
To explore this tension between memory and emotion, I created a sculpture of a brain paired with projected illustrations of the feelings I experienced. Activated by touch through Arduino, the screen loops and fades photos from my daily life, gradually giving way to the emotional illustrations. The work suggests that while memories may easily disappear, emotions endure.
